Whose decision was it to have Dvorsky play in Sweden to start the season?

Was it Steen’s? I’m sure he had some input, but I’d like to know the weight of Steen’s input.

He signed with Oskarshamn about a week before the draft so the Blues would’ve had no part of that decision. So I’d guess it was a joint decision between Dvorsky and his agent.

In hindsight, it was the wrong call. Should’ve just stuck with AIK or another Allsvenskan team.

He was under contract with his team so we decided to let him play it out and then apparently they were f***ing up his development so we bought out his contract and brought him to NA. AFAIK

Did we buy out the contract? I thought it was just mutually terminated?

In the end, doesn’t really matter to me as it’s not my money but I thought Oskarshamn was more than fine just letting him go.

yeah, pretty sure player and team agreed to a mutual termination. i don't think we would be permitted to buy it out under cba anyway.

Yeah, thinking about it a little more, I bet it’s all covered by the NHL Transfer Agreement. So the Blues paid $381k when they signed Dvorsky. My guess is AIK and Oskarshamn split that amount.

I was doing a little scouting in Prague and I can inform everyone that this was not Binnington or Parayko's best game. Fun game to watch though! Canada escaped with the OT win 7-6. Binner 6 goals allowed on 21 shots. Only some of them his fault.

Many SHL players have clauses in their contracts that allow them to leave the team if offered an NHL contract during the off-season.

Watching the Avs game last night, hearing the boo-birds rain down in Ball Arena was sweet. I hope Dallas can close it out tomorrow.

word out of ottawa is pretty clear he isn't being traded. obviously things can change, but it would be shocking if brady is dealt this summer.

One of the reasons to take what is said on sports talk radio with a grain of salt at about 58 seconds, he said he had no concrete information, but especially with local sports radio, they don't really know anything and just want to talk random stuff or get clips, so someone like JR will entertain the questions and talk.

Colton Parayko​

He may not have earned a point on the Cozens overtime goal against Czechia, but Parayko made a sneaky good move by joining the short-handed rush and helping cross up the defenders when his teammate scored it.

He’s seemingly been in the middle of all the team’s big moments during the tournament. In many ways, the veteran defenseman has been Canada’s engine.

No other Canadian player has exceeded his 168 minutes played at this World Championship or put up a plus-minus rating better than his plus-8.

Cracking Team Canada’s blue line for a best-on-best competition is exceptionally difficult, especially as a right-shot defender, and it may be a stretch for the 31-year-old Parayko to work his way into that conversation. But he’s done everything he can to remain on the radar.

I don't think so. I love Parayko, but I fear he would put too much pressure on himself because he is so nice. I always thought he was more comfortable as Robin than Batman.

Parayko is beginning to add "the rush" to his regular intentions. The problem is that it's easy for defenders to defend it. You just allow him to penetrate and when he tries to make a play take the puck away from him now he's up ice. He will get back in position in time but the Blues are not going to develop any threats from those rushes unless he figures out some basic plays he can make to keep the play alive

Parayko did look pretty good in the couple games I watched but I’ve learned to largely ignore World Championships performances as they seem to rarely correlate with NHL success. It’s a different beast played on bigger ice. Perunovich was the leading D scorer for the Americans a year ago. Doesn’t mean a whole lot.

You guys should go watch the goal that cost Canada the Bronze medal. It involves both Parayko and Binnington looking like doofuses.

For him, I think it would have to be driven by a usage change, but I also don't see that happening where he gets more balanced usage. I don't think 15 is unreasonable if he started getting the type of minutes that a typical #1 gets, but as a shutdown guy getting heavy defensive minutes, I don't see it. 10 in his role is really good though.
