The Toronto Maple Leafs announced Friday that they hired former St. Louis Blues bench boss Craig Berube as their head coach.

My honest thoughts are that the coach wasn't the problem. The biggest challenge for the Leafs in my opinion is the top heavy cap structure with 4 forwards making $11 million or more (yes I know Marner is technically just under that cap hit). As for Berube, it is a fine choice he has had some success so why not. He doesn't strike me as a coach that will coddle his stars so that's a good thing.
