Other than how he feels, I wonder how they determine if the cartridge has taken place and settled correctly and when the risk of screwing up that transplant is gone.
That's why they are going so slow with rehab; why he is doing all these drills to test it slowly. Bednar has said multiple times that they aren't going to rush him and have a set date that they wouldn't even entertain getting ready to play in an actual game. They haven't said what the date that is, but most suspect that it is a year after surgery, which is in 8 days, on the 10th of May.

Just based on these clips today, he seems like he's still a long ways away. I just cannot fathom him playing before the SCF, if he does at all this season. He hasn't played in a hockey game of any kind in 2 years, let alone at an NHL level. He isn't skating with any speed yet. He isn't doing any quick change of direction work. He hasn't practiced with the team since camp of last year, before they shut him down. He needs to do a lot more things, including practicing with the team in a non-contact sweater, before they are gonna clear him.

I’m with ya 100%. Hard to find info online about it but it’s not too common a procedure. I know basketball is different but they don’t expect Ball to be able to practice fully for another 4-5 months.

Yes, in 2024 in the age of social media and smartphones, it's all been done in some hidden remote facility where no one around Denver knows him, at 2 am, and where anyone that does see him has to sign a waiver agreeing not to talk about it.
It's going to be so funny if (or maybe when?) it turns out that this is a lot more accurate of a description of events.

Actually with the Avs.......that wouldn't surprise me one bit....well not the 2am part but you know what I mean. IMO the Avs are letting people see what they want them to see.

Why would they refuse the media to talk to the injured players but let them video where the player currently is within his rehab? Doesn't make sense to me.

Let’s just say I think you’re putting substantially too much weight in snippet videos that are provided.

Two people who seem to have some connections with the team have stated they expect him to jump in round 2.

Will he not play at all? Possibly.
Will he play 1 game and realize he can’t? Possibly.
Will he play 5 minutes if he does play? Possibly.

The Avs are like the KGB. After all the hidden crap over the last couple of years, you really don’t think it’s possible that they could not be showing you everything happening?

He's gonna play in this round.

I would love to share your optimism, but where are the explosive movements and turns?

I feel like I’ve been just watching him skate backwards for a month now.

He needs to dial it up in a hurry to play this series. Looks like a guy that maybe wants to give it a go in a potential cup final, but is still a ways off.

I find it hard to believe that they are so hell-bent on keeping Landy's rehab a giant secret that they would go out of their way to have him skate and rehab one way in secret, and then purposely have him go out in public and dog it in workouts to deceive the fans and media.

They've been doing that for years.
Yes they have but once the player is close to coming back. In this case being the playoffs I think they want to mislead the opponents that Landy is still ways to go. I could certainly be completely wrong though. Wouldn't be the first time.

You guys are all wrong. That’s not Landy in those videos slow skating. That’s the lookalike to make everyone including the teams Avs gonna face believe that he isn’t close to returning, when in reality, Landy is in full contact practice mode at a remote secret underground rink.

We're not seeing them on these videos most certainly. The explosive movements and turns are not what I'd be concerned within this rehab. Constant pressure is more of the issue. I'm sure we will see him do exercises to put that knee in tough situations and hold it for 5-10 seconds at a time. Make sure it doesn't flair up there. Then when he does have contact, the board drills with guys leaning on him and he has to keep pressure on that knee. Those are the areas where he will have more of an issue than turns, crossovers or general skating.

I agree, it is hard to believe.

But I also believe it’s possible. I’m sure some of it could be PR. Getting fans hyped up for a potential return is prob a bad thing if it turns south during his rehab.

This can easily go 0-100 quickly. There is 0 part of me that thinks he’s coming in and playing top 6. But there’s a good part of me that believes, if ready, he can be the 12th forward to start.
