These two bums make Max Hall and Stefan LeFors look like Tom Brady and Joe Montana

From what I saw, and am now listening to on the way home is Demetrius Ford has been really up and down. Some upside maybe.

I wasn't waiting out a pre-season game with nobody playing lol. I'll watch rest on cfl plus
Not missing much, it's a bit of a snooze.

The QBs are just killing the offence and any excitement right now. I get it, Wilson is a raw rookie and Grainger has been here for five days, but it's dreadful to watch.

Where tf do we find these dudes? It's just year after year of garbage at QB it seems (save for Brown, and if you want to count him, Streveler).

I still don't fully understand moving on from pigrome... was he not good at short yardage?

If I'm the Bombers I'm searching for other teams cuts for a #3. Or just bring back Pigrome. Grainger apparently is injured btw, why he's not coming back. CJOB seems unaware but it was on Twitter.
Almost like a guy needs more than five days of practice before a game...

Watching the second half... kind of miss just listening to cjob - at least I could imagine things to be better than they are

Demetrius Ford is not making this team BTW.

I’m gonna beat this dead horse. We have five first downs. FIVE. And one of them was from the punter.

If this is the best we can find, how bad are the QBs that we are turning DOWN?

He wasn’t very good at short yardage and Prukop became available … but that’s all I got. I agree with Holden — bring him back. These guys are worse than the Madden AI
Yeah he wasn't a fit on last year's roster composition.

But now as the #3 no longer needs to be a 3rd down specialist, it's a prospect spot. I think it should be Pigrome at this point.

Been very swingy with him. I thought he made a couple nice plays, albeit on of them I just heard on radio and didn't see. But yeah some pretty bad busts as well. He was a Longshot at best already it seemed.

Since I want to do this, but don't feel like dragging it out, I'll post my thoughts

QB - They all suck. Grainger playing on 5 practices did nothing to be expected, but it was a step backwards for Terry Wilson. This isn't some young kid either as he's 26. The appeal of a guy like that is that he should be MORE ready, he's bounced around on the XFL/UFL/AFL I think. He just isn't. I get there's a lot of rookies, he had plenty of bad snaps particularly late, etc. But just not flashes indicate he's got upside.

RB - Chris Smith wasn't great at RB. Rosery wasn't much better. Didn't see Chris-Ike.

WR - Poor WRs. Not chance to showcase. It looks like Ontaria Wilson or Josh Johnson have the inside edge on WR5 now. Myron Mitchell had a bad drop, nearly a fumble taking him out. Clercius had a nice catch. Not much of note. I will say Wilson, Johnson, Mitchell are the competition, they played the entire first half. It's among them.

OL - OL didn't seem too terrible to be honest. Didn't notice Lofton, so that's good?

DL - Not the game I was hoping Chauncey Rivers would have. A couple plays here or there, but not that much there. The best play though was he made a really nice read on a screen play and nearly got a pick. I thought Upshall on the other end was better much of the first half, but I saw some busts late. Schmekel didn't stand out like I was hoping he would. He's still likely on the roster now due to Lawson injury. Fox had some pop though. Hoping for big things from him. I though Jamal Adams had some nice moments at DT. Brought ALOT of energy anyways.

LB - Can't say much stood out here. Gemmel popped on my radar a couple of times on D. Petrishen has some nice wheels. Overall though they limited Calgary's starting backs which played all game to a decent degree. Gemmel I think almost had a pick. 24 2nd Round Global draft player Lucky Ogbeveon took a stupid penalty and his infinitesimal odds of making the team shrank to 0.

DB - Where the conversation gets interesting. Weak side corner is a MASSIVE concern on this team. Tyrique McGhee is the current front runner as Jamal Parker is out long term. He did not have himself a night to celebrate. Struggled in coverage in limited action, IMO. Tyrell Ford looked fine out on the wide side in again limited action. Demetrius Ford was really up and down. Some really nice plays, some really bad ones. At HB the standouts seemed to be the top two short side HB's they brought in Bridges and Hackett. For me that's a second game I saw alot of Hackett, he seemed to have a bunch of speed and aggression out there. He was decisive. I liked what I saw from Jake Kelly at S. We used a 2nd rounder on him in 23 so you'd hope he'd develop to a starting S and I thought he showed signs.

ST - Castillo who cares. Sheahan shanked a punt early. But was better after that. Like it or not I think this isn't a competition and Sheahan is back no matter what. And whatever slim odds Mastrogiuseppe had vanished with fake punt from what I heard. I heard he dropped the punt. That's the part the coaches will focus on. The run is cool and all, but a punter has to catch the ball. Maybe I misheard that, but if that's the case it's over. I thought one of the backup HB's in Dandy really popped in coverage teams. Quickly down there and made some nice tackles. That's the way to make the team as a deep depth DB, IMO. I thought McGhee again let some guys outside of him when he was the corner guy with the only job of preventing returner from going east-west. Not great.

KR/PR - Separating this out to make a point. I was talking smack about Chris Smith after last game. Well it looks like I was wrong completely. He has almost assuredly made the team, IMO. Yes maybe Calgary busted the coverage. But he hit that hole with a purpose and turned on the wheels. It was really nice. The only one even close was recently signed Vann with a nice return (later called back on a hold). But Vann seemed to lack that first step quickness so key for returners. And Cruickshanks watched his pro dreams roll right past him after missing fielding the punt then even lost yards past where he gathered it up from.

I have a busy weekend and cuts are tmw so I'll probably have to avoid my yearly roster predictions, but I was never close anyways so whats the point haha. These games don't matter. Cannot wait for next week.

I thought the defensive line played decently well, for the most part. The secondary wasn't giving them much time to get home. I was impressed with our run defence and Fox in particular.

Bombers under Walters are usually good at finding import DBs but it seemed like a whole lot of junk out there. That's my biggest concern. More than Lofton.

Anyway just getting off the bus now. I might post more later.

Looking forward to the cuts tomorrow and Game 1 next week!

Did my eyes deceive me or did Chris Wilson also have a special teams tackle last night to go along with his punt return TD?

Also, have the cuts been announced yet?

I did not watch any preseason games this year but by the sounds of it we have some holes on this team both on offence and defense and special teams that still have not been addressed. Still I look forward to the season opener on Thursday and some payback

Chris Smith had the punt return TD.

Bombers have until 10pm tonight to make cuts. Based on what we've seen in years past we might see 2-4 teams have their cuts leak. But the Bombers, don't expect to hear until Sunday morning at best. One or two names might leak out, but we'll know tmw on cuts.

But often the numbers won't make sense until later this week when we start to see injury lists coming out.

Meh it's hard to know. I've seen guys who've been not good in pre-season somehow make the team and then look awesome. Seen pre-season superstars never put it together in regular season. Everything in between that. We aren't going to get a real read for a few weeks.

However there are some real concerns on D in particular. The secondary is a question mark. 3rd string S Jake Kelly sounds like he might starting week 1 with Brandon Alexander and Nick Hallett potentially missing some time. Tyrique McGhee is going to start at weak side corner, but was not impressive in pre-season. DL has 2 new starters in Celestin Haba and Miles Fox, along with Tanner Schmekel taking on a big role at DT with Jake Thomas. There'll be alot of moving pieces in LB corps as well.

The O there's no real concerns. Some very minor concerns with 2 new starters, but most including me are real confident in Liam Dobson at LG. Eric Lofton is more of a question at RT, but despite my hand wringing it's not a huge concern. WR5 is not really a concern, more an opportunity for growth for 1 lucky player.

ST is a well see situation. Hard to know until reg season. Chris Smith solidified himself as the returner, so its up to him to lay claim to that job in reg season now.

I know preseason is vanilla but our st coverage and our D has been pretty bad... hopefully they turn it on with the starters but so far the new coaches don't seem to have changed anything - Richie halls D really needed an elite MLB and elite DE pressure for it to work
