By the 'rule of the book' yes. Clear contact with the official. If he just moved for the bench while making non-direct contact, ok but he got the arms involved which made it a clear case of 'shoving' the linesman. Gutless and I'm surprised there wasn't more focus on it in the broadcast.

And didn't the league add a rule about not jumping over the boards before the playoffs? It was about coming off the bench. No dangling legs!

Authority is a social construct made without accounting for individual ability, and Marchand is confronting that.

Aka- linesman is a dumbass and in the way, Marchand did nothing wrong. Don’t be a dumbass.

He probably didn’t realize he was right in front of the door.

For as much hate as refs get, people online really don’t get how fast the game is and how many things officials have to keep track of. Pretty easy to see how he just wasn’t completely aware of where he was standing for a couple seconds, it’s not that big of a deal.
