I mean yeah I'm pretty dense, I've been lifting for decades now.

I do think your reading comprehension sucks though? In what way does this statement have anything to do with the OP?
devils fans aren't asking for struble or x. so i assume your writing comprehension sucks even more.

One of Jersey's biggest needs might be size on D or the top 6. The Habs have a shit ton of LD depth and one could consider getting solid value back

How about if the Habs send Xhekaj and the Jets first pick to the Devils for the Devils 1st pick?

Does it seem like fair value?

Not that far off for me. I love the kid.

It's officials the season where Montreal tries to get a to 10 pick with some trade. Having one already I thought maybe we would avoid these.
first they need to acquire rempe for a 7th round pick, so they can afford to lose x for a first.

Here’s just one thread:

+bonus posts of Habs fans saying “no” to the value too lol.

Feel free to look up additional threads or Twitter posts if you want.
Oh sick, a two year old thread. Here's the quotes from Habs fans on the first page:

"I wouldn't do it but it would take more than that, something in the lines of Caufield + Anderson + #25 (or #33)

No trade to be had here between these clubs imo, Anderson is not a key desirable piece if we're talking about 2nd ovr"

"NJ says no. Value is good for MTL, but they shouldn't make that deal either."

"Anderson has negative value as a player considering his contract and abysmal levels of play."

But really great point man

Nonsense. They missed the playoffs because they were decimated by injury. They didn’t get “cracked quick” last year when they went up against the Rangers. Xhekaj could barely get in the lineup on a bad team, he’s not some essential need for a team with Cup aspirations. It’s not even clear he’s an upgrade over Bahl, who is bigger and played far more difficult minutes.
I don't disagree but they might literally be the softest team in the NHL. They need to add some guys who can play mean around their skilled players

I don't blame Montreal fans for thinking this, their GM said he turned down a 1st for him. This lead them to think he had value. I think they now understand that was never the case.
That poster is also being completely disingenuous about what's being said in that thread to try and prove his point. Up until this year Habs fans were insistent Anderson still had value because several insiders were saying there was interest in him, I don't think even his biggest supporter would have ever said he has high first rounder value

Montreal probably needs one as well given the fact Xhekaj is spends a lot of time in the penalty box.

Replacing Bahl with Xhekaj isn't going to change them that much. They had Smith and MacDermid in the lineup at times together. The bigger issue is lack of forwards who can cycle and forecheck more than they need a lateral move at best on the third defense pair. If Xhekaj didn't fight he'd be much less interesting and NJ picked up MacDermid to do that for much less than is being discussed for Xhekaj. Not taking anything away from Xhekaj who is a great story and can develop with the Habs to see what he turns into. NJ needs someone more developed though.

35 of his 81 minutes are fighting majors lol

I wasn't trying to say that it alone would, I'm just saying it's something they need to address that shouldn't be discounted just because they also had terrible injury luck

The NJ GM has said some things that suggest he'd like them to play with a bit more edge but guys like Jack Hughes and Jesper Bratt are what they are. They could use another couple of wingers in the top nine and I'd expect them to see if they can some grittier players there.

that proves my point, How can he be a tough guy when he's not able to play. Also if he is clearly so great why did he play in the AHL? His great play should have solidified his spot on the roster.

Who were the big bad meanies on last year’s champs? Kolesar? Fewer PIM than this year’s Bahl. The year before the champs’ high pim man was MacDermid - someone the Devils ended this season with. And MacDermid’s toughness was so valuable in the playoffs he got zero playoff games played.

The past couple years of Stanley cup champions really should have helped dismantle the notion that ‘teams need tough guys to win’.

Damn, I wonder if he got injured and then, like you said, solidified his spot on the roster? You've clearly already built your own unshakable narrative on the player without any background, so doesn't seem like it's worth my time explaining anything

That's not what I said. If you can't look at the makeup of the Golden Knights vs Devils and not see a stark difference I don't know what to tell you

He's saying Habs fans dramatically overinflate the value of their players, just like they did when some claimed they wouldn't trade Mailloux for Will Smith.
Oh I'll agree

Might as well, most team fans tend to overvalued their talent

Ok, fine, 92.3%.

Happy?

f***ing Captain Semantics over here.
ONE guy said he wouldn't trade Mailloux for Smith, and you're saying "they". Almost as exhausting as I imagine watching your team must be

Breaking news - young player who was working at f***ing Costco 3 years ago plays in the AHL
